Jane & Jean Yves are based in South West London covering Wandsworth, Putney, Wimbledon, Richmond & Battersea. Our team comes from a range of design and horticultural backgrounds.
Our Approach
We specialise in working with discerning individuals who want to invest in their garden.
Our clients have an idea about they want to do with their garden, but don’t have the time or inclination to get knee deep in the maze of landscapers and designers and they aren’t sure about what is needed to make it a real plan.
We listen carefully to your vision for your garden design and then work closely with you to develop a design brief and help you visualise the end result. Our aim is to help you make your garden the perfect extension to your home.
Espace Garden Design offers a flexible and personalised range of services from design and build management to a border planting scheme. We also offer a one-off consultancy for clients who would like ideas for a 'quick fix’ for their existing garden.
You will know exactly what the fees will be before you commission us and when your design is agreed, we work with you and the hard landscaper to keep your project on track.
Jane Aliband BA(Hons)
Jane has 25 years experience working within the world of design in fashion, garden and interiors.
Growing up in Paris near the Bois de Boulogne was an early childhood inspiration, with balcony gardens the norm. Jane moved to London to gain a BA in Fashion Design, subsequently working as a fashion buyer, she then moved to Sydney where, working as assistant to the internationally recognised interior designer Thomas Hamel, her passion for interior and garden design was fuelled. Jane qualified in Garden Design from Capel Manor, Regents Park.
Jane's travels around the world are a continuous source of inspiration and underpin her design ethos. Each project responds to a client’s needs, their surrounds and importantly, to the way they live.
Jean-Yves Gilg
Jean-Yves Gilg been involved in gardens for the better part of the past 30 years; however, his previous career was in magazine publishing. In 2014 he left his job as editor of Britain’s longest-running magazine for solicitors to train as a garden designer at prestigious Capel Manor College, graduating with a Diploma in Garden Design.
Jean Yves now also teaches garden and planting design at Capel Manor College.
